OTTAWA (CUP) — The settlement conference between fifth-year chemistry student Edward Inch and the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO) has ended and will be continuing around October.

With the SFUO refusing to settle, the case will be going to trial.

“The judge expressed interest in the case and looks forward to following it,” said Inch of the conference. “This will set a precedent for future cases.”

While waiting for the trial to begin, Inch will be working to create a lobby group that will work towards creating provincial legislation that would allow for voluntary student unionism.
